Solidifying their powerhouse status, the Green Archers of the Civil Engineering Department of PHINMA University of Pangasinan (UPang) Dagupan Campus clinched their fifth consecutive Overall Champion title during the College of Engineering and Architecture (CEA) CHAMPS 2026 Culminating Ceremony at the University Gymnasium on October 7.
Amassing a combined team and departmental score of 86.65, the Archers struck the bullseye, securing a historic five-peat victory that highlights their consistency, commitment, and determination to defend their championship streak.
Anchored on the theme “Flames of Victory,” this year’s CEA CHAMPS adopted a Hunger Games-inspired concept, grouping students from UPang’s Dagupan and Urdaneta campuses into four teams and six departmental districts.
The team categories featured the Green Archers, representing Civil Engineering; Yellow Assassins, representing Architecture; Blue Warriors, composed of Computer, Electronics, Electrical, and Mechanical Engineering; and Orange Hunters, representing Civil Engineering and Architecture from the Urdaneta Campus (PUCU).
Meanwhile, the departmental competitions were divided into six districts: District 1 – Masonry, representing Dagupan Civil Engineering; District 2 – Technology, comprising Electronics and Mechanical Engineering; District 3 – Marine, comprising Computer and Electrical Engineering; District 4 – Power, representing PUCU Architecture; District 5 – Mining, representing Dagupan Architecture; and District 6 – Lumber, representing PUCU Civil Engineering.
Following a three-day pre-festival and three-day official festivities, the Green Archers emerged victorious in the Overall Team Category and several sporting and performance competitions, including Chess, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, Boys’ Badminton, Girls’ Table Tennis, Mixed Doubles Pickleball, Basketball, Boys’ Volleyball, Girls’ Volleyball, and Battle of the Bands.
Close behind, the Architecture Department mounted a strong challenge, finishing just 0.17 percentage points behind the champions. The department also secured victories in several team and departmental competitions, including the highly anticipated Bench Yell, Powerdance, and Singing Showdown.
In an interview, Green Archers team leader Czedric Vidal revealed that the team prepared its own tabulation to monitor its standing throughout the competition, driven by the pressure to uphold the department’s “CE Pa Rin” legacy.
“We prepared our own tabulation from CE, at talagang mata sa mata, ngipin sa ngipin ang labanan namin,” Vidal said.
As he concluded his stint as team leader, Vidal encouraged future CEA CHAMPS participants to enjoy the experience and give their best onstage.
As the friendly rivalry drew to a close, CEA CHAMPS 2026 once again underscored that the festival goes beyond titles and recognition. More than a battle for championship glory, it served as an avenue for fostering camaraderie, strengthening departmental pride, and carrying forward UPang’s “Angat at Sikat” mantra.
