Gearing for Excellence: PSME holds General Assembly

Philippine Society of Mechanical Engineers (PSME) PHINMA University of Pangasinan Chapter held its General Assembly on July 30, 2026, at the Audio-Visual Room, gathering ME students from second to fourth year alongside faculty members.

ME Program Head Engr. Wilson A. Sagisi opened the assembly with his testimony, sharing his life experiences and knowledge with the students. He ended his speech with a quote from Burt Rutan, saying, “If you’re not failing 50% of the time, you’re not innovating enough,”

Thereafter, the program continued with the Dean’s message delivered by Officer-in-Charge Engr. Roselle D. Tuazon, who emphasized the importance of teamwork and working together by drawing on the analogy and theme of the event. “You know better than anyone that a single gear cannot do anything alone,” she said.

Engr. Tuazon then announced that ME was the only department in CEA to achieve a 100% enrollment rate, despite being the youngest program in the department.

The program proceeded with the introduction of the ME department faculty members for the school year 2026–2027, led by Engr. Wilson A. Sagisi. He first introduced Engr. Jeffrey Rebonquin, followed by Engr. Mark John F. Tangalin, Engr. Ferdinand Luey Jr. Untalan, Engr. Jarred Jeff Tañedo, Engr. Justin Meniguarin, and lastly, Engr. Jay Ian Mari H. Cayago.
Each faculty member shared words of encouragement and practical advice with the students as they continue their journey toward becoming future mechanical engineers.

“There’s no shame in falling down, but the true shame is to not stand up again,” Engr. Tangalin reiterated to the ME students, emphasizing that failures are not the end, but rather a starting point to try again and become better.

Following the assembly and introduction of the faculty members, the students actively participated in icebreaker activities led by PSME, filling the room with laughter. Thereafter, the newly elected officers for the academic year 2026–2027 were recognized.

The program concluded with the awarding of certificates, recognizing the contributions of the speakers and the participation of the ME students.
