Alluka named Batch ’26 valedictorian; UPang confers honors

Culminating a year of hardships, study sessions, thesis, and internships, PHINMA University of Pangasinan recognized its graduating tertiary students with honors and distinctions during the Recognition Rites 2026 held at the university gymnasium on June 11.

Leading Batch 2026 is Reymar Vincent “Alluka” S. Vidal, a double-degree holder in Bachelor of Science in Accountancy and Bachelor of Science in Management Accounting, who was named valedictorian with the distinction of Magna Cum Laude. A proud transwoman, Vidal’s achievement reflects both academic excellence and perseverance.

“At PHINMA University of Pangasinan, we believe that education is not only about achieving high marks, but also about developing character, leadership, and a genuine desire to make the lives of others better,” said Mr. Adele S. Traspe, Director of the Center for Student Development and Leadership (CSDL).

Meanwhile, Ms. Princess A. Ventura, Program Head of the Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management, emphasized that education is not merely given, but is an investment students make to shape themselves for the future.

During the ceremony, the university’s seven colleges conferred various departmental awards, including Best in Thesis, Best Intern, Best On-the-Job Trainee, Best Capstone Design, Best Presenter (Individual and Group), Most Outstanding Student, Leadership Awards, Top Performing Students, and Special Recognition for external competitions.

Among the awardees was Isshael S. Espiritu, The Students' Herald Associate Editor, bagging the Outstanding Journalist of the Year 2026 as she finished her term.

Recognitions were also given to CSDL awardees, PHINMA scholars, Campus Youth Ministers, and Latin honor recipients—Cum Laude, Magna Cum Laude, and Summa Cum Laude—alongside the highest distinction, the Supreme Honor of Dux Ducis.

The ceremony concluded with the annual baccalaureate mass, offering graduates a moment of reflection and blessing as they prepare to transition beyond academic life.
