KUWENTORISMO 1.0 Takes Flight: CHTM Family Convenes LTSP Orientation

PHINMA University of Pangasinan (UPang) College of Hospitality and Tourism Management gathered second- and third-year class officers for the League of Tourism Students of the Philippines (LTSP) General Assembly, themed “KUWENTORISMO 1.0: Every Journey Has a Story,” today, July 31, at the Audio-Visual Room.

Spearheaded by LTSP officers, the assembly aimed to orient the newly elected block officers on their responsibilities, introduce the Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management (BSTM) faculty members and organization officers for the academic year, and provide a motivational message to students as they embark on a new journey.

The program began with an audiovisual presentation and opening remarks by Dean Lloyd C. Diawan, DBA, followed by a safety announcement and the introduction of the BSTM faculty members.

From there, LTSP Adviser Sir John Carlo B. Garcia posed a question for the students to ponder: “What kind of leader do you want to become—the leader who will be remembered because of a position, or the leader who will be remembered for making a difference?” His question further fueled the students’ passion for leadership and service.

Afterward, the LTSP officers for the academic year 2026–2027 were introduced, followed by a quick snack break where students socialized with their blockmates and fellow officers, displaying camaraderie and fostering connections.

Thereafter, Mr. Mhel V. Dulos, Department of Tourism–National Capital Region Operations Officer I, took the spotlight to deliver a motivational message and share his journey toward achieving his goals as a BSTM graduate of PHINMA UPang.

“I was once sitting where you are today—full of dreams, questions, and uncertainty. But I never stopped believing,” he said, empathizing with the young tourism aspirants as he shared the journey and opportunities that shaped him.

Mr. Dulos further encouraged students to give themselves the chance to step out and show themselves to the public, emphasizing that shyness should not hinder them from taking opportunities. He ended his speech with gratitude, reminding the students to always dream big, keep learning, serve others, lead with purpose, and inspire the world, as they have the power to create experiences that will last a lifetime.

Upholding commitment and transparency within the organization and community, the LTSP officers presented the membership fee and master calendar, sharing the mapped-out activities with the elected student leaders and future tourism professionals.

Finally, Andrea Pauline M. Garcia, chairperson of the event, led the closing remarks with the mantra, “Mabuhay LTSP, mabuhay ang turismo.” The program officially concluded with the awarding of certificates and photo opportunities.
