BAYANIHAN IN ACTION: UPang community assists schools

Aiding schools in preparation for the opening of classes, PHINMA University of Pangasinan (Upang) student leaders, volunteers, and community members continued the One PHINMA Brigada Eskwela initiative across schools in Dagupan and Urdaneta City from May 29 to June 5, 2026.

Spearheaded by the Supreme Student Council 2026-2027, student leaders from respective Local Student Councils, Registered Student Organizations, and University-wide Organizations joined forces and lent a helping hand through manpower, services, and donation drives.

The initiative commenced at East Central Integrated School on May 29, followed by Salapingao Elementary School and National High School on June 1, Urdaneta City National High School on June 2, Pantal National High School and Dagupan City National High School on June 4, and concluded at Malued Elementary School and Judge Jose De Venecia, Sr. Technical-Vocational Secondary School on June 5.

“PHINMA believes that education is important to improve the living conditions of each and every one of us,” Mr. Ron Ranier Reyes, executive of PHINMA Foundation expressed last May 29, reiterating the core mission of the institution by making the lives of others better.
Furthermore, Center for Student Development and Leadership Director Mr. Adele Traspe conveyed that cleaning and serving may seem simple, but it will be significant once volunteers do it with their hearts.

The Brigada Eskwela initiative has been conducted for years and despite weather challenges, the UPang community once again demonstrated its spirit of service and volunteerism through gardening, general cleaning, book covering, free vital signs checking, emergency response lecture, story telling to youth, and free haircut to students, school employees, and parents.

Marking another successful collaboration, UPang and participating schools signed a memorandum of agreement supporting Brigada Eskwela and future educational and community-based initiatives.
